Hello!
My name is Kelley Linehan and I just graduated with a BFA in graphic design. Being a recent graduate and all, I’m feeling pretty idealistic (although I do expect to maintain that part of me for the foreseeable future - minus the whole economy thing).
That said, I have a burning passion for effective design. You know, design that solves problems instead of creating more? That’s my number one interest and the reason I decided to pursue higher education and a degree in design. I plan to save the world. Or at least make it a better place. Are you with me?
My degree in design has certainly cultivated an appreciation of form, but somewhere along the way, I became a dedicated observer of usability and function. So that’s another thing. I’m always, always watching the way things work, whether they are products or systems. Just a note: don’t invite me over for dinner if you don’t want me to reorganize your kitchen. Just kidding! Kind of.
About me:
I didn’t head straight to college after high school, instead I bummed the planet for a while, racking up experiences (which I highly recommend). After spending some time living out of a VW microbus, exploring various Mayan ruins, backpacking Europe and being a volunteer park ranger in New Mexico (among other things), I decided to go back to school. In fact, I wasn’t gone all that long, just a couple of years, but it’s kind of amazing how many adventures you can pack into a relatively short period if you really want to.
So here I am. Ready to take on the world again, freshly hatched from my academic incubator. And to celebrate my graduation, I spent some time in Nicaragua learning how to surf and escorting baby sea turtles to the Pacific so I am feeling refreshed. I wonder if I should add that to my resume...
An avid photographer, I carry my camera with me most places and document my days. Unless otherwise noted, all the imagery on this site is my own, as is most of the imagery I have used in my work. I have made a hobby of capturing street art and weather events. I don’t know how it happened that way, they just seem to find me.
I am an active participant in both the real world and the virtual one. I serve on several design related committees in Milwaukee while simultaneously maintaining a healthy digital identity. I’ve listed several links on the left hand side of this page so you can see for yourself if. You don’t need to take my word for it.
I am proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and have a bit of background in web design. I made this site for myself after all, that’s got to count for something, right?
Alright! That’s me, in a nutshell.
I welcome all opportunities to get started on that big goal of mine (saving the world, remember?). So if you happen to have any ideas about where to begin, I would love to hear from you. Or if you just want to say hi. That would be nice too.
